A tube transceiver for UHF

At a meeting, an old hand among the VHF amateurs explained the structure of initial UHF transceivers with a hand-drawn sketch and extensive explanations. From the memory of his remarks, I later constructed such a device. Here is the circuit diagram:

Although I barely believed, even during construction, the whole thing worked pretty well. Depending on the data of the adjustable with a screw home-built rotary capacitor reached with the UHF tuner tube used therefor easily in the 23cm area. For this, the gold-plated connector pins of the tube without socket had to be soldered directly into the circuit. With a longer wire hanger was 70cm operation no problem. During the experiments, at the slope the sound channels of the then analogue TV also could be demodulated.
